About the role
You are the client's first point of contact in most conversations — the person who actually understands their business, maps it onto Odoo, and walks their team through training. Strong business instincts matter more than Python. Expect heavy discovery, process documentation, user acceptance testing, and long-term training relationships with client champions.
What you'll do
- Run discovery interviews with client department leads (finance, ops, sales, HR) — capture requirements + current-state processes
- Configure Odoo modules directly: accounting, sales, inventory, purchasing, HR, CRM — no custom code required
- Author functional specifications for engineering when configuration alone can't meet a requirement
- Build test scripts and run user acceptance testing cycles with client champions
- Lead role-based training: record videos, write quick-reference docs, run live sessions for 10-200 end users
- Support data migration — map legacy CoA/customers/products into Odoo import templates, validate against trial balance
- Own post-go-live hypercare: daily triage, user-error diagnosis, partner with engineering on bug escalation
- Draft handover docs that the client's internal Odoo admin can own after we disengage
- Contribute to library of reusable configuration templates so the next similar client implements faster
- Stay current with Odoo versioning — what changes at v17→v18→v19, what OCA modules bridge gaps
What we're looking for
- 3+ years in ERP / business-systems consulting (Odoo, NetSuite, SAP Business One, Dynamics, or Sage equivalents)
- Hands-on configuration experience with Odoo (or a direct analog) — you can configure accounting + sales + inventory from scratch
- Strong process-mapping skills — can draw a current-state workflow diagram from a 30-minute stakeholder call
- Comfort training non-technical users without condescension — patience for repeated "where's the button" questions
- Excellent written English for client-facing documentation
- Self-directed remote work — clean weekly reports, clear task ownership, low need for hand-holding
- Bachelor's in business, finance, industrial engineering, or equivalent applied experience
Nice to have
- French-Canadian fluency
- Prior in-house finance, ops, or supply-chain role before consulting
- CPA / CMA / CSCP designation (or equivalent)
- Experience building a certification path for client super-users
