Does Odoo have real WMS features or just basic stock?
Odoo Inventory supports multi-step receipts and deliveries, multi-warehouse setups with transit locations, storage categories, putaway rules, and removal strategies such as FIFO, LIFO, and FEFO, and Barcode layers scanner-driven operations on top. For most SMB and mid-market warehouses, that's a genuine WMS. Very high-throughput automated sites running conveyors and sorters, though, usually keep a specialist WMS and integrate with it instead.
Can Odoo do wave and batch picking?
Yes. There's batch picking, where a single operator works several orders in one pass, and wave picking, where picks get grouped by zone or product. Both cut down travel per line, usually the biggest cost in a manual warehouse.
How does Odoo handle shipping carriers and rates?
Odoo comes with connectors for FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, and others, which pull live rates at the point of the delivery order, print compliant labels, and write the tracking number back onto the order, so support never has to dig for it in a carrier portal.
How long does a warehouse implementation take?
A single-warehouse barcode rollout typically goes live in 8 to 12 weeks. Multi-site and 3PL billing projects take longer, since billing rules have to be worked out customer by customer.
