Does Odoo handle ELD, hours of service and IFTA?
No, and we'll be upfront about that limit. Odoo doesn't natively support electronic logging devices, doesn't run an hours-of-service compliance engine, and doesn't file IFTA fuel tax, those stay with your ELD and telematics provider. There's no out-of-the-box telematics ingestion either, so odometer readings, fuel burn, and GPS events reach Odoo through an integration we build against the provider's API, not a checkbox you tick.

Is Odoo a dispatch or route optimisation system?
Not by itself. Odoo holds the load, the customer, the rate, and the assigned truck, and Field Service can schedule crews, but it won't solve vehicle routing with time windows or re-optimise a multi-stop day. Fleets that need that keep their existing routing engine and run Odoo underneath it as the commercial and financial system.

Can Odoo run driver and owner-operator settlements?
Yes. Whether pay is by mile, by percentage of linehaul, or by trip, it gets calculated straight from the trip records, and deductions for advances, escrow, insurance, and damage are handled as settlement lines. We typically model owner-operators as vendors, so the settlement produces a vendor bill with a full audit trail instead of a spreadsheet emailed out on Friday.

How long does a transportation implementation take?
Most carriers are live somewhere between 12 and 20 weeks. A single-terminal fleet with clean vehicle data lands at the short end of that range. Multi-terminal operations, owner-operator settlement rules, and a telematics integration push things toward the longer end, and we generally run one full settlement cycle in parallel before cutting over.
