What Is Odoo ERP?
Odoo is an open-source enterprise resource planning suite built around a single PostgreSQL database and a unified Python/JavaScript application framework. It started life in 2005 as TinyERP, was rebranded to OpenERP in 2009, and became Odoo in 2014. Odoo Community (free, open source)
The free, open-source edition under LGPLv3. Includes the core ERP modules but excludes accounting closing, advanced inventory features, MRP work orders with kiosk mode, marketing automation, document management, e-signature, and the official Odoo Studio. Suitable for small businesses with a developer in-house, or for technical teams comfortable maintaining their own deployment.
Odoo Enterprise (paid, full features)
The commercial edition. Adds the apps Community is missing, includes Odoo.sh hosting credits and access to bug fixes ahead of the next major release, and unlocks Odoo Studio. Studio (no-code customization layer)
Studio is part of Custom and Enterprise plans. It lets non-developers add fields, automate actions, build dashboards, and customise reports without touching Python. About 30% of typical client customizations can be done in Studio alone; the remaining 70% require a developer (which is what our customization service handles).
